My goal is to support you in untangling the thoughts and emotions that may feel overwhelming, helping you make sense of them and find clarity.

Counselling offers a space to view things from a fresh perspective and discover new ways of coping with, or adapting to, the challenges we face. Together, we’ll explore the areas of your life that feel difficult or stuck, and work toward creating a more positive and fulfilling path forward.

My role is to metaphorically meet you where you are, and walk beside you on your journey. Together we can wade through the mud and I'll help pull your welly boot out if it gets stuck. We may need to climb over fallen trees, I'll help give a leg up. We might scramble under bushes, I'll offer my hand to help you through. It'll be exhausting on the up hills, but we can pause and catch our breathe. Feel the freedom of running with your arms out to the wind down the other side. Together we can skip through long grass, sit and take in the view of the path already taken, or the landscape that surrounds you now. We will walk at your pace, and find alternative paths when needed.

I wish for counselling to be available to everyone especially in this day where society and relationships are so much more complex, and loneliness is at its highest level ever.

My Approach

My integrative approach is rooted in a person-centred philosophy. I believe you are the expert in your own life and I am led by you.

Being an integrative counsellor means I hold a comprehensive therapy toolkit. The tools we use to move along your journey are always chosen according to your needs and preferences. Adapting as we go to ensure that you always receive the most relevant support.

What we explore is entirely your choice. I value counselling as a space that gives you the freedom to reflect on any aspect of your life, from your earliest memories to the present day.

Therapy may involve discussing life experiences, emotions, relationships, patterns, and behaviours. I am here to listen with empathy and support while also gently challenging you, helping you gain greater clarity and consider alternative perspectives.

My aim is to create a space of safety, curiosity, reflection and self-compassion. That encourages a deeper self-awareness, strengthens relationships (with others and with yourself), and a move toward living more authentically. Whilst promoting your new self-confidence and belief in yourself and your choices.

Some clients prefer more creative, visual or sensual methods of exploration rather than just talking. When that’s the case, I may invite you to explore your inner self with creative activities. Alternatively, we might take our sessions outdoors in nature.

I understand how life’s challenges can leave you feeling disconnected, uncertain, or overwhelmed. Reaching out for support can feel like stepping into the unknown, it takes courage to let someone into the more vulnerable parts of your life.

Many people come to therapy feeling alone in their struggles. You may sense that there is something you need to express, but it feels difficult - or even impossible - to put into words. You might not yet fully understand what it is. Be assured in our sessions I will be alongside you exploring where to begin, and encouraging expression of thoughts, emotions, or memories no matter how confused they are.

ROXY.jpeg

Hello, I am Roxanne

I'm a compassionate and empathetic counsellor based in Bridport, Dorset.

A professional counsellor with experience in working with adults and young people, ages 11 and upwards. I offer in-person counselling in South-West Dorset, and on-line counselling for anyone within the UK.

I have a long history working with and supporting adolescents and their families with complex needs. I feel passionate that young people should have access to counselling. The benefits for our young people, being able to speak about their experiences, and learn to express their worries, is proven to have positive outcomes for their mental health today and in the future.

I understand some of the frustrations that come from Dyslexia and ADHD from my own experience. It is a topic of interest for me, and with my continued research of neurodiversity, I feel a better understanding of myself, and a more rounded view when connecting with others who share similar difficulties and strengths.
